Mothers' savings groups

Collective savings that become investment capital for the mothers in our communities.

Bujumbura Mairie & Rural Ongoing Mothers of vulnerable families Program: Economic empowerment
Concept note

Why this project matters.

Our savings groups bring together mothers who contribute regularly to build a common fund. Each member can then mobilise that capital to launch or consolidate an income-generating activity, lastingly leaving dependence behind.

The context

Three persistent challenges on the ground.

01

No starting capital

Without seed savings, access to investment opportunities stays out of reach.

02

Banking exclusion

Vulnerable mothers have no access to formal financial channels.

03

Economic isolation

Alone, they have neither leverage nor a guarantor to plan for the long term.
